Tieling New City is built on the fecund soil in Liaoning province, covering 41.5s.q.k.m as schedule. Liao River runs through the north of the city, Fan River winds through the city in the middle. The 20s.qk.m-wide marsh of Lotus Lake locates near the north. The beautiful North Mountain takes its locality to the east. Tieling New City, located in the center area of the transportation zone between Harbin and Dalian in Northeast China, plays an important role in connecting Heilongjiang, Jilin and other provinces. Beijing—Harbin Freeway, Beijing—Harbin Railway and G102 National Highway pass through the new city from north to south. The newly planned speed passenger transport railways and Beijing—Harbin Highway will cover the city, extending its transportation network in all directions.

Tieling is the center of the culture in North Liaoning, where cultures of the Han nationality, Mongol and Manchu mingle with each others.The are of Er Ren Zhuan, the opusculum art, the “Dream of Red Mansion” culture, the culture of Jin Dynasty and the meticulous brushwork constitute the rich cultural system in Tieling. The New City will set up several characteristic buildings, historical monuments and cultural sites, such as cistern, Christianity church, the monument on the original site of the Gongsun town. Over the last several years, Tieling is getting to be known by more people in china owing to the increasing popularity of Zhao Benshan and his Er Ren Zhuan. Tieling thus has got the strong support to develop its tourism and other industries.

According to the city planning, the population of Tieling will reach 420 thousand, and there will be 60-80 thousand people living in the New City in 2010. By the year 2020, the city population will increase to 550 thousand, the people in New City will amount to 200 thousand. In the next 5 years, Tieling will hopefully develop into an international ecological garden city. The city will grow harmoniously with the nature, setting a good example for other cities in Northeast China.
